
The AHS Orchestra earned an excellent rating at the 2017 OMEA State Orchestra adjudicated event, held at Hudson High School on Friday, February 24. The ensemble performed three prepared pieces and then sight read a piece on the spot to earn their rating. Congrats, orchestra! Your directors are proud!

Study Session Scheduled
Save the Date! Sports Medicine study session for Mid-Terms at the Alliance Starbucks on December 18th. Seniors 5pm-6pm and Juniors 6pm-7pm.

Lego Invention Project
On Dec. 1-2, students in Chris Shively’s history classes and Chris Schillig’s English classes participated in a Lego invention project. Students selected 19th-century inventors and inventions and recreated them using Legos. The project required students to research the inventions and inventors and to write down and photograph each step of the building. Students then wrote expository essays to show others in the class how to replicate their Lego creations. The project was a collaborative effort for students in the ninth-grade Pilots academy.


Choralaires spread holiday cheer
The select choir from Alliance High School, the Choralaires, spread Holiday cheer all around Alliance on Thursday, December 8. The 20-member choir is auditioned from the student body, and performs for all kinds of activities around Alliance. Thursday, the group traveled to four area nursing homes to visit residents, pass out cards and candy canes, and sing several selections from their upcoming concert. Students visited Danbury Senior Living, Brookdale of Alliance, McCrea Manor, and Altercare of Alliance, while also singing for the workers at Wendy's and Christmas Caroling through the Buckeye Village Plaza and Giant Eagle. The Choralaires are under the direction of Carrie Chunat.


Sports Medicine Internship
The Senior Sports Medicine wrapped up their 13 week internship at Alliance Community Hospital. Thank you to all of the healthcare workers who allowed them to shadow and get a first hand look at each career. We wish to especially thank Wendy Tabellion and Michele Quinn for all of their hard work in organizing all of the rotations, lectures and volunteer areas. It was a great experience for the Seniors.


Toy Drive- National Honor Society
National Honor Society is sponsoring a toy drive to benefit the Alliance Professional Firefighters Toy Drive. Items needed include new toys, games, puzzles, stuffed animals, books, sports equipment, bikes, helmets, batteries, and stocking stuffers. Items can be dropped off in the main office. The collection will continue through December 8.

AHS Choir To Mount Union:

AHS Students Visit WRMU:
Media Arts students from all classes visited WRMU radio station at the University of Mount Union. Station Director Lynn Riggle showed the students the various studios, editing suites and classroom. She explained the history of the local radio station, including a format change in 2015.Riggle explained the importance of learning all aspects of broadcasting to make yourself marketable. She also offered the students the opportunity to shadow the UMU students during their evening shows. AHS Teacher Kyle Schwarz said the visit was part of the study of audio this 9 weeks and will help the students with their upcoming radio station project.



Alliance High School to host NBC Honors Choir Event:
On Thursday, November 17 the Alliance High School Vocal Music Department will host NBC Honors Choir featuring several schools in the NBC. Students from Carrollton, Canton South, Louisville, Minerva, Marlington, and Alliance will combine select choir students for a mass choir experience under the direction of Rev. Jonathan Turner, Director of the University of Mount Union's IVOP program. Schools will spend the day at Alliance with Rev. Turner learning music together, and then performing in concert that evening. The concert will be held inside the AHS auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm, and admission will be $5.00 per person.

AHS Cosmetology

AHS Students Donate to Help Save Lives:
The Sports Medicine students helped out with the English Blood drive on Friday, November 4th. Students register and support potential donors throughout the entire process. Students also look at trends as to why potential donors were turned away and develop an educational plan to help increase donations for the next drive. This drive collected 35 pints of blood that will save up to 105 lives.

Donate to NHS Food Drive!
There is still time to donate to the Alliance High School National Honor Society food drive to benefit the Alliance Community Pantry. The drive ends on Friday. Send your donations of nonperishable food items to school with any student. Donations are accepted before school from 7:15-7:45am and also Thursday evening from 6:30-7:00pm.

Aviator Sports Boosters
The HANGAR, the Alliance Aviator spirit store located in the AHS athletic lobby, will be open Saturday, November 5th from 9AM-3PM during the AHS Craft Show. The HANGAR features a large variety of newly added apparel, baby & toddler t's, bibs, ties, hats, visors, umbrellas, blankets, bags, rhinestone airplane pins, coffee mugs, water bottles, yard signs, window clings, & lots more! The Stark County's Sports Icons & High School Greats Book will also be available to purchase. The Aviator Top 10 includes: Len Dawson (also featured as a Stark Co Great), Mel Knowlton, Anthony Blair, Harry Fails Jr, John Borton, Dave Clegg, Kendall Davis-Clark, Jen Wollam, JJ Kukura, & Charles Babb and additional Aviators are listed as Honorable Mentions. All Stark County high schools are included.
The Aviator Sports Boosters 2016-2017 membership drive is in full swing. Memberships are available and being accepted at the AHS athletic office or by contacting membership chairman Nicole Shaw(304-374-1780). All Aviator fans are encouraged to join & get involved!
The Aviator Sports Boosters will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, November 7th at 7pm, at AHS in room 237 (past the auditorium doors on the right side of the hallway). All Aviator fans are encouraged to attend!

Aviator Shootout
The community is invited to the 6th Annual Aviator Shootout this Friday, November 4. The event, featuring 5 minute films created in 48 hours by groups of Media Arts students, begins at 7 in Room A at AHS. After viewing these films, join us in the Media Arts room for the awards program, snacks and prizes. The event is free and we look forward to seeing you there to support these future filmmakers!
