Several Alliance High School students competed in the OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event at Canton McKinley High School on Saturday, Jan. 14. This event is sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) and is open to any music student enrolled in a music class at Alliance. Students prepared solos or ensembles and performed for highly qualified judges, receiving a comment sheet, or suggestions for improvements and a rating on a scale of I to V.
Students receiving a Superior (I) rating include vocalists—Gracie Weaver and Anna Eversdyke.
Instrumentalists include—Zachary Kinser (snare drum) and a flute trio of Anna Eversdyke, Emily Johnson and Lily Walker.
Students receiving an Excellent (II) rating include vocalists—Avery Horning, Rylee Horning, Sylvia Johnson, Kacie Bench, Arabella Barnes, Maddux Bryant, Katrina Asano and the ensemble of Kacie Bench, Jenna Heslop, Sylvia Johnson and Zhaniyah Wood.
Instrumentalists include—Aaron Farmer (flute), Zachary Kinser (marimba), Emily Owens (tenor sax), Jayson Reed (snare drum), Andrew Chunat (snare drum) and percussion ensemble Jenna Heslop, Zachary Kinser and Emylee Yeager.
