Alliance High School recently recognized the top ten percent of the 2021 graduation class at the annual academic recognition night.

\r\n

This year, 21 students were honored for their academic success during their four years of high school. Each scholar was able to choose one teacher or staff member that has made a positive impact on their educational journey as their honored educator.

\r\n

Each year, a keynote speaker is selected to present to the students, their families and honored educators. Dr. Laura Albrecht, a 2003 graduate of Alliance High School had the honor of presenting.

\r\n

Dr. Albrecht attended the University of Mount Union where she majored in biology. In 2016, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with research honors from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Albrecht returned to Alliance in 2018 and joined Dr. Randy Crawford and Dr. Jim Brunie in their dental practice. She recently acquired the practice following the retirement of Dr. Crawford. The practice is now named Albrecht Dental.

\r\n
\r\n

Dr. Albrecht encouraged the students to follow the path life takes them one. She thought her path would take her through college and dental school straight to being a dentist; however, that was not the case. There were many twists and turns on her path to becoming a dentist, but nevertheless, she persisted and achieved her dream of becoming a dentist with her own practice.

\r\n

“I want to thank you for allowing me to share my journey with you, and this is just the beginning of yours,” Dr. Albrecht said. “Some of you may have dreams and know the career paths you want to take, some of you may not and some of you may change your mind more than once along the way. It is my hope that your time spent at Alliance High School created a foundation for you, like it did for me, that will serve as a launch pad into the next steps of your journey.”

Superintendent Rob Gress acted as master of ceremonies for the event. He introduced each student with a brief biography and asked the student to read the message they had written about their honored educator.
