Alliance Early Learning School
\r\nStudents in Sandi Zemrock's and Laura Hackney's class were fortunate to have the Iota Sorority collect new underwear, socks, and clothing for the students. Each student in the class selected one new shirt they get to keep. It was like Christmas came early. The rest of the items were given to the office for any student who may be in need of something. The students and staff at AELS deeply appreciate their generosity and thoughtfulness.

\r\nNo Bullies Allowed
\r\nAES just wrapped up Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout the month of October, students worked hard to put bullying to rest. They had a full week of Anti-Bullying Awareness where each day was geared to bring light to the issue and help students learn ways to handle or respond to bullying behaviors. Students also participated in grade-level guidance lessons to bring awareness to bullying and strategies to use for prevention. First Grade read the book “Llama Llama Bully Goat” and demonstrated how they could be a buddy, not a bully. In Second Grade, they worked to 'Stomp Out Bullying' by recognizing the traits and signs of a bully and how to handle difficult situations. Each second grader traced the outline of his/her foot and wrote down what steps they will take to end to bullying. Third Graders focused on verbal bullying and how it can negatively affect them. Students gave examples of hurtful words or phrases and were then asked to counter them with positivity and kindness. The paired activity required students to have access to both a lemon slice and a Hershey kiss. They were encouraged to associate sour words with taking a big bite of a lemon. When they used kind words, they were encouraged to associate it with the sweet taste of a Hershey kiss. Not shockingly, most of them preferred the chocolate.
\r\nTechnology
\r\nThese third grade students are “cool at keyboarding!” They are learning to type to become better communicators. Congratulations to our top typists for the first quarter: Jovanni Rainieri, Matthew Myers, Jadyn Barnhill, Peyton Graham and Promise T. These students enjoyed a pizza lunch with Kim Frazier. Keep up the great work.

Awesome Art
\r\nRenee Marinchek's third grade class has been learning about famous artists. This week, the students learned of the work created by Andy Warhol. They recreated his Campbell's soup can through directed-drawing and will color their can in the style of Pop Art. Marichek's first grade art class is busy sorting bottle caps collected from Alliance City Schools' friends and family. The students are given a bucket of caps and work together in small groups to sort the caps by color. These caps will be used to complete a large-scale mural this spring. Additional bottle caps may be dropped off at the school office.

\r\niReady and Reading
\r\nThe third and second grade classes are doing amazing at iReady. The students love working in the media center to pass their lessons and increase their literacy skills. The first graders are checking out books and working on independent reading.

Alliance Intermediate School
\r\nCongratulations to all the students recognized for earning honor roll and merit roll, for having perfect attendance and earning Top Gun for the first nine-weeks. Keep up the great work.
\r\nAlliance Middle School
\r\nThe fall athletes celebrated the end of the season with a banquet and awards. The students were recognized with team awards and for being scholar athletes. AMS principals served the families who attended pizza. Great job to all the student athletes.

AMS held the first activity day of the year. Students were able to take part in activities such as soccer, dancing, crafting and laser tag. All the students had a blast.

Alliance High School
\r\nThe Jetsetters performed a send-off concert to prepare for their first competition of the 2019-2020 season. The students traveled to Ada on Saturday where they earned first runner up in class B and fourth runner up overall. Ryan McKnight was selected as the outstanding performer.

Seniors had the opportunity to attend the College and Career Night hosted at AHS. Over 60 vendors attended allowing the students to learn about college options, enlisting in the military and employment opportunities following graduation.

Cosmetology hosted their annual Spa-A-Thon. The students performed services such as facials, manicures, paraffin and pedicures. All the money earned will help with the cost of state boards in the spring.
