The kindergarten students of AELS received a special treat as they began their community helpers unit. Jennifer Keith who is a flight attendant for United Airlines came to talk about her job and answer some very important questions for the students. They learned that her job is to serve those who are on an airplane by keeping everyone safe, remind passengers of the rules, help the pilots, and clean the plane once all the passengers are off. She stated that her job is almost just like what a teacher does with students. She flies on a 50 passenger plane that was built in Brazil and is gone for 4 days out of the week. She flies all over the United States to Florida, Texas and California, and other places like Mexico and Canada just to name a few. Jennifer Keith stated that she serves snacks to customers like pretzels and beverages. She even has a special beverage named after her daughter who is a student here at AELS. She mixes ginger ale and cranberry juice together and the passengers love it. She has not had any emergency landings, but has had 3 small incidents and even smelled smoke before take off one time. The fire department had to come and they got all the passengers off the plane. It was only a broken light bulb, but luckily she was paying attention enough to tell the pilot that something was wrong. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your occupation with us! We enjoyed your visit!!!
