It had been a decade since Alliance had bested Louisville on the gridiron. Friday night at Mount Union Stadium, however, the Aviators made up for lost time. Leading 42-20 at halftime, the team held on for a 49-34 victory.
The Alliance offense was humming the entire night on the ground and through the air. Duce Johnson ran for over 200 yards and scored three touchdowns. Tyler Williams added another rushing score of 46 yards.
Quarterback Howard Frazier connected with Tyler Johns through the air for two touchdowns, and the aforementioned Williams on a two-point conversion pass.
Defensively the Aviators forced four turnovers. Interceptions were recorded by Frazier, Staquan Mason, and Anthony Young. Alex Leasure recovered a fumble as well. These no doubt set up multiple scores for the offensive side.
Return man Jeff Talbert piled onto the effort with a kickoff return for a touchdown on special teams.
Overall, Alliance was able to dominate all phases of the game as they moved to 2-0 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference and 4-1 overall. They travel to Canton South this Friday for an NBC showdown with the 5-0 Wildcats.
