Alliance High cheerleaders have earned a total of three first-place wins and one second place after four competitions so far this season.

The Aviators had a great day at the Northeastern Buckeye Conference competition Saturday, hosted by their home school, Alliance. The Freshman/JV and Varsity teams and the Competition Cheer Squad all competed at the NBC.

The Freshman/JV team took second place to West Branch in the cheer-chant category. The Varsity squad took first place in the cheer-chant category. The Competition team tied for second place with Minerva, while Louisville got first.

The Freshman/JV and Varsity wins were Alliance's first time topping the competition at the NBC. Also, this was the first time Alliance placed in all categories at the NBC.

The AHS Competition Cheer Squad started off the season on Nov. 12 at Lake High school and took 2nd place to Marlington.

The following weekend, they took first place and best showmanship at Jackson High school. Senior Rayonna Gallagher took first place in the jump off.

On Dec. 10, cheerleaders took another first place win at Sebring High School. Cheerleaders Rayonna Gallagher and Megan Bailey got first and third places, respectively, in the jump off, while Allison Waggoner got third place in the tumble off

The AHS cheerleaders got yet another first place win on Dec. 18 at Minerva. Gallagher got first place in the jump off at that competition as well.

“It was so amazing to beat Perry this past weekend,” said sophomore Mariah Ohman. “That was our main goal, and being able to do it with my friends was even better.”

“I'm so proud of how far we have come and grown as a team,” said sophomore Allison Waggoner. “I’m excited to see where we go.”

The AHS cheerleaders are hoping to go on to regionals on Feb. 11 at Marlington and then to state Mar. 4 and 5 at The Ohio State University.
