​AHS students receive top honors at Solo and Ensemble contest.

Several Alliance High School students competed in solo and ensemble contest at GlenOak High School on Saturday, January 14. This event is sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association and is open to any music student enrolled in a performing ensemble at Alliance. Students prepared solos or ensembles and performed for highly qualified judges, receiving a comment sheet with suggestions for improvements and a rating on a scale of I to V.

Students receiving a Superior (I) rating include vocalists—Emilly Swonger, Abigail Graham, Phoebe Jackson, Kaelynn Kemp, Maggie Ledbetter, DeSean Hollins, Stefan Thalacker. Instrumentalists include—Megan Brookes (trombone), The String Quartet, Stefan Thalacker (violin), Allie Cox (violin), Sidney Chunat (violin), Korryn Jackson (violin), Aleah Minor (cello), Reggie Wooten (snare drum), AHS Percussion Ensemble, Karleigh McCracken (bass), Mackenzie Wiley (marimba), Tommy Gress (piano), Triplets String Trio, AHS String Quartet, Katlyn Zurbrugg (flute), and Abby Moore (flute).

Students receiving an Excellent (II) rating include vocalists—Will Kinser and Katie Blake. Instrumentalists include—Ralph Borosky (viola), Will Kinser (trumpet), DeSean Hollins (cello), Cheyane Benning (violin), Nadia Keppel (violin), Andrew McMillen (violin), AHS Flute Trio, Sean Kelly (snare drum), Korryn Jackson (violin), Madison Serrano (violin), Paige Lilly (violin), Anna Zumbar (Oboe), AHS Woodwind Trio, AHS Junior String Trio, and AHS Trumpet Trio.
