Principal's Message

Shawn Jackson Picture

It’s hard to believe we are through the first quarter of the school year and we are three weeks away from winter recess. At Alliance High School we had an excellent first quarter and many of our kids earned superior grades on the first quarter report card.  Here are some impressive numbers:

- 120 students had perfect attendance for the first quarter. That’s 15% of our high school students.
- 307 students received high honor roll status.

That means 35% of the students at AHS had a 3.5 grade point average or higher for their first nine weeks grades. To reward these students for their hard work, many high school staff went around town on a cold and icy Saturday morning and put Honor Roll signs in students’ yards reading, “Aviator Pride! My child is an Alliance High School honor student.” Our freshman class led the way with 107 students on the high school honor roll.

-180 students received merit roll status.

That means 180 students at AHS had a grade point average between 3.0 and 3.5.

When you add them together, 487 students had a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. That’s over 57% of the students at AHS. That’s very impressive! Congratulations to all of these students and families. I am very proud of you. Keep up the great work!

One last note, if you are shopping at the Carnation Mall this Christmas season, you can help Alliance High School win the Carnation Mall “Show Your Spirit” Contest ($5,000 1st place $2,500 2nd place).  All Carnation Mall receipts dated November 1, 2014 - December 31, 2014, including food court, movie stubs, & gift certificates, will be recorded. Show your receipt(s) at the Mall Welcome Center. Receipt(s) will not be kept.

I would like to thank the students and staff at AHS for a great start and Go Aviators!

- Mr. Jackson
